Photo by BrianMKA.Or at least that’s what witnesses on the scene are telling TBD. A D.C. police officer, posted right near the scene of last weekend’s shooting at 1st and Q NW, was reportedly very slow to respond to the shots, and failed to pursue the shooters.
One woman told TBD that “Cops showed up pretty quickly. Within three minutes. He didn’t move or go anywhere until the other police came.”
A police spokeswoman said that the officer didn’t chase after the suspects because the officer was taking care of the victims. The spokesperson said that the officer followed MPD procedure by immediately tending of the shooting victims.
However, according to the witness TBD spoke to, the officer didn’t leave his car immediately to take care of victims, but rather he stayed inside of his vehicle until other police officers arrived on the scene.
The witness wasn’t even sure what she had heard was a shooting because she observed the police officer stay in his car until other police arrived.
