We mentioned it briefly in this morning’s roundup, but now it’s been confirmed: two people were injured during an early-morning carjacking at the Largo Town Center Metro station during which gunshots were fired.
A woman was shot during the carjacking which involving an orange Chevrolet Camaro and occurred around 7:30 a.m. inside the parking garage of the station. A man was also injured in the fracas, though it is unclear whether he was shot or not. Both were taken to a nearby hospital and are expected to survive. The Largo station’s garage was also the scene of a carjacking in 2009.
Perhaps the most amazing part of this morning’s story is that rail service and station operations were not affected by the crime and investigation — and, according to The Examiner’s Kytja Weir, the garage itself, aside from the level where the shots were fired, was still open to serve the morning rush.
