DCist reader and Flickr pool contributor Andy Jones sent us this set of photos documenting a mass exodus from a delayed Brunswick line MARC train on Friday.
All of the MARC trains on the Brunswick line were stopped due to a HAZ MAT situation. After being stalled for more than 90 minutes, a lot of the passengers voluntarily exited the train. We were stopped right by the Shady Grove Metro stop and began crawling under the fence to attempt to grab a bus or cab home. I was a passenger on Train 875. I had my camera and fisheye lens so I got some shots.
Well that must have been a sight: a slew of bewildered and irksome commuters leaving the comfort of their trains, eyes squinting in the afternoon sun, to venture forth through the wilderness along the train tracks to find a cab home. This is a sure fire way of getting a taste of the life of a train-jumping hobo.
