Photo by yonas1.The idea of extending a D.C. Circulator route across the Anacostia River for the first time, which has been floating around for about 18 months, has hit a snag. According to the District Department of Transportation, information gleaned at a public meeting on Monday will force the agency to rethink its routing.
“When we do set a proposed route we will have another meeting,” said DDOT spokesperson John Lisle. “Sounds like 2 to 4 weeks, and we’ll go back to the community with a new proposed route.”
Under the previous plan, the existing Union Station-Navy Yard line would be extended across the South Capitol Street Bridge with 11 new stops, looping Historic Anacostia, Skyland, the Giant grocery at Camp Simms and the Congress Heights Metro station into the Circulator system.
