>> Talented local saxophonist Bobby Muncy leads his quartet tonight at Twins Jazz. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. $10 + $10 food/drink minimum.

>> Senegalese vocalist Youssou N’Dour was among the first musicians to bring West African music to the attention of western audiences, due in no small part to his collaborations with Peter Gabriel. He will perform an 8 p.m. show on Thursday at the Lisner Auditorium. A limited number of tickets are still available. $30-$65 + fees.

>> Baltimore-based vibraphonist Warren Wolf studied at the prestigious Peabody Prep and Berklee College of Music before returning to his hometown to start his own career. Skilled in a range of music from classical to jazz, Wolf will be leading a talented band that includes pianist Allyn Johnson and saxophonist Lyle Link on Friday at Jazz Night in Southwest. 6 to 9 p.m. $5.

>> DCist profiled vocalist Sachal Vasandani earlier this year before a performance at the University of Maryland. This weekend, you can catch him in a more intimate setting as he plays 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets on Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. Vasandani will be celebrating the release of his latest album, Hi-Fly. $25.

>> HR-57 hosts Jimmy “Junebug” Jackson on Friday and Elijah Jamal Balbed on Saturday. 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $12.

>> Jon Faddis is considered one of the most virtuosic and multi-faceted trumpet players on the scene today. He has led big bands, worked with a number of jazz greats and is a respected jazz academic. He will be leading his combo through 8 and 10 p.m. sets on Friday and Saturday at Blues Alley. $37.75 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Alto saxophonist Jim Snidero‘s resume reads like a “Who’s Who” of the established New York jazz scene. Also a respected instructor at several universities and the author of several books on saxophone technique, Snidero is a complete musician. He will be leading his own group this Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz. 9 and 11 p.m. sets. $20 + $10 food/drink minimum.

>> A Lithuanian native now residing here in the District, Robert Kupstas is a singer who is accomplished in European pop and classic jazz settings. He will perform 8 and 10 p.m. sets on Sunday at Twins Jazz. $10 + $10 food/drink minimum.

>> Saxophonist Mike Phillips has lent his soul driven sound to the likes of Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott and Toni Braxton. He’ll be leading his own band on Sunday at Blues Alley. $25 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Blue Monday Blues hosts Dave Panzer & the Bluesicians. 6 to 9 p.m. $5.

>> Local bassist Roberto Pomili is considered a master of the tango tradition. He recently recorded concerTango recordando a Piazzolla in honor of the famous Argentinian composer and will play selections from the album on Monday at Blues Alley. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Barbara Rosene is a singer known for interpreting classic early jazz of the ’20s and ’30s. Revisit the days when the speakeasy was more than a place for young urbanites to spend $15 on a cocktail as she plays 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley on Tuesday. $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Though just 21 years old, Elijah Balbed is one of the busiest saxophonists in town. This month, he has a residency at Bohemian Caverns, where he is playing at 8 p.m. every Tuesday. $7 in advance, $10 at the door.
