Last Friday, we reported on a pair of brick-throwing incidents which left two Columbia Heights bars — Meridian Pint and Room 11 — with broken windows. With the investigation still ongoing, DCist has obtained security camera footage from outside Meridian which shows the vandal tossing a brick through the bar’s front window, as well as more details on the crime.

According to sources, the bricks are believed to have been taken from a lawn along nearby Park Road around 2:30 a.m. last Thursday. When targeting Meridian Pint, the vandal, who rode up to the bar on his bike, actually missed on his first attempt to throw a brick through the window, so he used a second brick he had picked up to break the glass. Based on a review of more security footage, it’s believed that the vandal then biked back up to the lawn on Park, grabbed a third brick, then threw that one through the large front window at Room 11.

A witness to the vandalism who didn’t want to be identified said that he chased the vandal with his car, but had to stop after the cyclist went down a one-way street.

Room 11, meanwhile, has taken the vandalism in stride, displaying the brick at the bar.

Police are still searching for the suspect.
