Sitting Prince George’s County Councilwoman Leslie Johnson pled guilty this morning to charges stemming from her involvement in a federal corruption probe. Johnson admitted guilt on two charges of witness and evidence tampering.

Johnson — the wife of former county executive Jack Johnson, who also pled guilty in May to charges of extortion and evidence tampering — was found last November with $79,600 in dirty money stuffed inside her underwear. Johnson also followed instructions from the former executive to flush a $100,000 check down the toilet before federal authorities descended on the couple’s residence to arrest them.

Johnson appears to have swung a deal which will cut her sentence down to 12 to 18 months in prison; her husband is facing 11 to 13 years behind bars. Sentencing for both will take place this fall.
