Good morning, Washington. It was a humid, soggy mess in and around the District yesterday. Alternating between rain-soaked and sweat-sodden, we surrendered to a torrent of heavy rain that took its toll on Maryland.

Fortunately, yesterday’s deluge has given way to clear skies. Science and clairvoyance unite! Meteorologists tell us that despite some clouds, they feel comfortable categorizing today as mostly sunny. Prepare for a gorgeous weekend. After all, we are the hottest.

>> Betty Ford, widow of President Gerald R. Ford, died Friday in Palm Springs, Calif. She was 93. Progressive and popular, she overcame addiction and helped found one of the best-known rehabilitation centers in the country.

>> The Washington Post reports that there were significant delays on Metro’s Yellow and Blue lines Friday night after a man was fatally struck by a train at the King Street Station. Witnesses say the man appeared to have placed himself in front of the train.

>> Well, over or under? On Wednesday, Mayor Vince Gray said he now supports building an aboveground Metrorail station at Dulles International Airport. On Friday, Greater Greater Washington contributors weighed in.

>> The grim jobs report released Friday found that government jobs are seeing the most cuts. DCentric reports that these losses disproportionately affect African Americans, who hold a large portion of public sector jobs.

>> The Washington Nationals suffered a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Friday. To top it off, starting pitcher John Lannan was hit in the face by a batted ball.

>> Air Force Major Richard Elzinga was 27 years old when he died, shot down in the jungles of Southeast Asia on March 26, 1970 during the Vietnam War. A year ago, a joint U.S./Laotian MIA search team found the crash site and a three-inch piece of bone. DNA from a family member confirmed it belonged to Elzinga, and on Friday, he was finally buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

>> An emu that had been on the loose for two weeks in Maryland was shot and killed by a trooper after residents complained about the bird’s aggressive behavior.
