The Weather Channel has apparently ranked the District as the sixth hottest city in the United States. The District’s 86.2 degree average summertime temperature was good enough to land us among the company of southwestern hotbeds like Yuma and Laredo.
But it turns out that John Candy was right: despite the fact that the District logged 67 days over 90 degrees last year, it’s really the humidity that landed us on the list. Today will serve up a fine example of that overwhelming humidity — the heat index today is expected to breach the century mark.
