>> James “Sticky” Brewer, charged with the shooting death of a 71-year-old Army veteran in Southeast Washington in June, escaped from D.C. Superior Court Friday but was back in custody Saturday afternoon after turning himself in. The Washington Post reports that Brewer escaped by swapping courthouse identification bracelets with a man who faced a misdemeanor drug charge.

>> William and Cynthia Bennett were viciously attacked two years ago when William was beaten to death and his wife Cynthia was brutally assaulted. Now the case of the man charged with the crimes is among the first that could be affected by the Virginia Department of Forensic Science’s decision to reevaluate DNA evidence in 375 cases.

>> A stabbing at a Frederick convenience store on Saturday morning has left one victim hospitalized. Brandon Joseph McCallister of Walkersville, Md., was arrested and charged with first and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
