A pair of disturbing reports this morning detail alleged sexual assaults inside the District government and on Metro.
The Washington Times reported this morning that a female employee at the city’s Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services has alleged that her male supervisor forced her to perform oral sex several times between February and May. The woman “believed she would lose her job if she did not perform the acts” according to police documentation. Investigations by D.C. police, the Council and a federal regulator are currently underway; it’s yet another blow for DYRS, which has been one of the most troubled city agencies over the past few years.
Meanwhile, there’s a sexual assault that allegedly occurred on a Metro train earlier this year has now been made public. In April, a teenager riding an outbound Green Line train reported an incident to a station manager at the Naylor Road station, and Metro Transit Police “immediately apprehended” the alleged assailant, a 47-year-old man from Annandale. In 2010, seven rapes were reported on the Metro system, but WMATA spokesperson Dan Stessel said that the April incident was not a rape charge and would be reclassified.
