>> Kiu Haghighi is a master of the santour, a dulcimer-like instrument that is popular in classical traditions stretching from Persia to South Asia. He will perform a free concert tonight on the Millennium Stage. 6 p.m.

>> The Lopez brothers — Fernando, Luis, Bolivar and Jorge — are natives of the Ecuadorian Andes and their band, Andes Manta, specializes in the music from that region. The group will be performing a free outdoor show tonight at Strathmore. 7 p.m.

>> Smooth jazz star Dave Koz pays a visit to the Birchmere this evening for a 7:30 p.m set. $49.50 + fees.

>> Saxophonist and area native Jacob Garbus is a rising sophomore studying music at SUNY Purchase, but has already traveled the world as an award winning high school jazzer. He’ll lead a group through 8 and 10 p.m. sets tonight at Twins Jazz. $10 + $10 food/drink minimum.

>> Mychael Pollard is not only a fine jazz musician, but is also a sought after keyboardist for local hip-hop and R&B artists. Tonight, he’ll lead his band through intimate 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley. $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Grammy-nominated rapper Christylez Bacon and BloomBars have been collaborating on a monthly performance series called the Washington Sound Museum, which fuses hip-hop with the many international sounds found in the District. This month’s edition will take place on Thursday at the Millennium Stage, featuring violinist Nistha Raj and others. 6 p.m. Free.

>> Talented local vocalist Akua Allrich will perform on Thursday at Bohemian Caverns as part of a bill with Kokayi and The Beast. 8 p.m. $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

>> Cyrus Chestnut is a familiar face here in the District. The pianist is a regular at the DC Jazz Festival and the Kennedy Center. Catch him during his four-night stand of 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley, which begins on Thursday.

>> Bassist Amy Shook, pianist Bob Butta and drummer Frank Russo often perform together in the Annapolis area, creating an incredibly vibrant sound. They will appear on Friday at Jazz Night in Southwest with guitarist Donato Soviero and vocalist Felicia Carter. 6 to 9 p.m. $5.

>> Aaron Seeber is still in college, but in high school was recognized as one of the most talented up-and-coming drummers in the region. He will team up with local heavyweights Paul Carr and Allyn Johnson for 9 and 11 p.m. sets on Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz.

>> HR-57 hosts regulars Antonio Parker (Friday) and AJ Parham (Saturday). 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $15.

>> The Sunday Jazz Lounge, curated by guitarist Rodney Richardson and trumpeter Joe Herrera, will be at Twins Jazz every Sunday in July. The Lounge features an opening solo set from a different artist each week, and then the guest joins the Richardson/Herrera Quartet. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. $5.

>> John Lee‘s fusion-driven sound has made him one of the most sought after guitarists in the area. He will be leading his excellent trio on Sunday at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge. 10 p.m. $5.

>> Maraca is a 12-member group directed by Cuban flutist and composer Orlando Valle, which plays jazzy improvisations to the most danceable elements of Caribbean and popular Cuban music. They will perform a free 6 p.m. show on Monday at the Millennium Stage.

>> Blue Monday Blues hosts Tinaz Blues. 6 to 9 p.m. $5.

>> When it comes to local jazz guitarists, there are few musicians with more experience than Steve Abshire and Paul Wingo. They will combine their classic styles and deep knowledge on Monday at Blues Alley. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. $18 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
