Stealing is wrong. Karma is real.

Two employees who worked for a Pepco subcontractor made a small fortune stealing copper wire and pipes from Pepco every workday for four years.

James Anthony Price, 44, of Mechanicsville, Md., and Anthony Joseph Tate, 37, of Suitland, Md., were caught on surveillance video, arrested and charged in connection with the theft and sale of over $70,000 worth of copper stolen from Pepco.

Price and Tate were employees of the Rockingham Construction Company. Police said that at the end of their shift, one of the men would drive a work truck and the other would drive an SUV to an isolated warehouse area where they would move the copper wire and pipes from the contract vehicle to the SUV. Then they would head to Ultra Recycling to sell the stolen copper for cash.

Interestingly enough, it sounds like these crooks are small change.

“We have an idea that there’s people out there who are getting over $5,000 a day stealing copper [from Pepco],” said Detective Andrea Sheehan, of Prince George’s County police.
