The Washington Humane Society is seeking information from the community about the heinous shooting of a dog last week. According to an alert from the Humane Society, a tan female dog (pictured at right) was shot by an unknown assailant on the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace SE, causing serious damage to the animal’s legs. The incident occurred in the early morning hours on July 21. WHS is offering a $1,000 reward for any information which leads to the conviction of the shooter on animal cruelty charges.

The shooting is but one of the several open investigations being conducted by the Humane Society’s Humane Law Enforcement Department; now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go restore my faith in humanity somehow.

UPDATE: The Humane Society has now raised the reward to $3,500 for information leading to a conviction thanks to a $2,500 donation from the Humane Society of the United States. Anyone with information should call (202) 723-5730.
