Rodney McIntyre, the father of 17-year-old Ebony Franklin — who was sexually assaulted, brutally murdered and discovered inside an alley dumpster on the 1000 block of Fairmont Street NW last November — pled guilty to Franklin’s murder today.
McIntyre, who was charged with the crime in May, could be sentenced to 40 years in prison for the crime. Court documents alleged that the 45-year-old stabbed Franklin 15 times before leaving her body inside the dumpster. (Franklin’s body was found three days after the murder.) According to a information released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, McIntyre had a disturbing sexual relationship with his daughter; McIntyre’s DNA was found inside Franklin after her death. The Attorney’s Office also noted that in addition to dumping Franklin’s body, he used her cell phone to “send multiple text messages, including some directed to her stepfather that asked if her mother was upset that she had not come home.”
McIntyre — who used to work at Meyer Elementary School, where the murder took place — will be sentenced on October 27.
