>> DCist is no stranger to the gun control debate, or D.C.’s unique role within it. On Friday, artist John James Anderson presents the debate with hand-drawn quotes, charts and video, offering a clinical view on an often passionate topic complete with commentary on the District’s role. Gun Show opens at Washington Project for the Arts with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m.

>> The Gateway CDC hosts an artist talk this Saturday in conjunction with the exhibit Migrations: Perspectives on an Elemental Impulse. Artists Sonia Keiner, Krista Schyler and Shahin Shikhalyey will discuss their work as it relates to the pushes and pulls of migration and how as a species, we are all migrants. 7 p.m.
