WMATA announced this morning that they’ve whittled down the crowd-sourced effort to rename the “pedestrian tunnel” to five possible names: “Free Transfer,” “Surface Transfer,” “Farragut Connect,” “Farragut Exchange” and “Farragut Crossing”. The names, suggested by riders, will be applied to the new connection between the Farragut North and Farragut West stations which will allow customers to transfer between the two above-ground without cost.
Voting on the names will be open until next Wednesday. And if I can break with journalistic practice for a moment, I can’t really see an attractive case for any of the options other than “Farragut Crossing,” which has the added benefit of making your daily commute sound like a portion of The Oregon Trail.
