FRIGHT: Brace yourself for that creepy cackle — every Friday starting tonight, the Black Cat (1811 14th Street NW) will be showing two episodes of Tales from the Crypt and pairing them with drink specials. Tonight’s picks are the first two episodes from the series: The Man Who Was Death and And All Through the House. 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Free.
FOOD & DRINK: While D.C.’s Restaurant Week is coming to an end, Alexandria’s Restaurant Week is just beginning. Starting tonight and running through August 28th, head to Virginia for $35 three-course meals as well as $35 dinners for two. Of the participating restaurants, definitely consider Pizzeria Paradiso (and their wonderful beer list), Cheesetique (offering a $35 feast for 2 that includes two glasses of wine, a six cheese/meat board, and chocolate mousse), and Jackson 20 (offering its full menu).
COMEDY: Comedy on H presents actor and stand-up comedian Ari Shaffer, who is originally from Silver Spring and has appeared on HBO and Comedy Central, at the Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H Street NE) tonight and tomorrow. Local comedians Adrian Rodney and Lafayette Wright will open. 8 p.m. and $10:30 p.m. Tickets: $12. (Correction: This is actually next weekend. Our apologies.)
MOVIES: It’s an action-packed weekend at AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring), which will be showing Die Hard (Friday, 9:45 p.m. and Saturday, 7:30 p.m.) and Lethal Weapon (Saturday, 10:10 p.m.), as a part of their Totally Awesome: Great Films of the 80s series. $11 each.

SATURDAY
FOOD & DRINK: The all-you-can-eat Chesapeake Crab & Beer Festival brings 40,000 crabs to National Harbor this Saturday. Noon-6 p.m. Session I runs from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Session II runs from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Tickets: VIP crab & beer tickets are $85 in advance and $100 day-of, beer-only tickets are $35 in advance and $50 day-of, and crab-only tickets are $55 in advance and $70 day-of.

BEER: Greg Engert of ChurchKey and Brandon Skull of DC Brau are just two of the presenters at the Nerd Nite and Homebrew Competition at Red Palace (1212 H Street NE). This DC Beer Week event pairs a study of the history of brewing with a number of delicious beers. The homebrew event goes from 12-4 p.m., followed by Nerd Nite at 6:30 p.m. $10.
