Photo by Kevin H.Those planning to head to the beach this weekend aren’t the only ones who will need to scrap their plans — anyone planning on using Amtrak to travel south of the District will, as well. This morning, Amtrak announced that they would be canceling all train service south of the District on Friday, Saturday and Sunday due to Hurricane Irene.
Amtrak also notes that “additional cancellations may be necessary in the coming days as the major storm moves north” — so if you’re heading anywhere along the Northeast Corridor, you’ll want to keep an eye on the train operator’s alert page.
