UPDATE (4:00 p.m.): We’re informed that the situation appears to have calmed down and things are getting back to normal.

A mechanical problem with an escalator at the east entrance to the Tenleytown Metro station is causing a bit of a stir along Wisconsin Avenue this afternoon — if you’re planning on using the station soon, you might want to go ahead and try the other side to avoid the ruckus.
