Last week, local development blog DCMud reported that local uber-developer Douglas Development had picked up the deed on the Equitable Building at 915 F Street NW for $5 million, half of what the previous owner paid for it. It’s a property that we’ve been keeping an eye on for some time.

Back in December, we noted that progress on the previous plans for the building — a three-floor party/club space conceptualized by Peter Andrulis called the Museum of Arts and Sciences — had been suddenly halted. The “boozeum,” as it had been dubbed, only made it through a couple of soft opening events before it was shuttered.

It’s not clear what Douglas plans to do with the building yet, but we thought you might enjoy taking a look at what the place was becoming under Andrulis’ hand — the photographs above were taken by David Abizaid while the interior design was in progress. It’s pretty obvious from the images that the space has a ton of potential, even if its checkered past certainly has a bit of a grip on its utility.
