Whereas the sale of memorabilia from the fire-damaged Tune Inn was more drunken celebratory community swap meet than commercial venture, a similar auction of items from the neighboring Hawk ‘n’ Dove is shaping up to be a far more sterilized experience. According to a press release, “the last call to get a piece of the tradition and legacy” of the soon to be closed bar will be conducted online during an auction conducted by Rasmus Auctioneers.

Hawk ‘n’ Dove owner Stuart Long has been a long-time client of Rasmus Auctioneers and decided to sell the décor that made the pub feel like home on their website to the highest bidder regardless of price. CEO of Rasmus Auctioneers Chris Rasmus said, “Being a native Washingtonian I have been going to the Hawk ‘n’ Dove for years. It is a shame to see it go just because someone was willing to pay more money, so we are happy to help Stuart in any way possible. We know that Washingtonians will jump on this once in a lifetime chance to preserve a piece of the legacy, no matter how small.”

The auction will take place on October 6 and 7; to preview the items up for auction, check out this site.
