Owner José Corado surveys the damage done to his Mt. Pleasant restaurant.

This morning’s fire at Mt. Pleasant restaurant Corado’s largely spared the dining room but gutted the kitchen, leaving owner José Corado unsure as to when he’d be able to re-open his 20-year-old eatery. He said he’d have to wait for an investigation to be completed — the fire was likely electrical, and started in the kitchen — and his insurance company to weigh in before deciding how to proceed. Old School Hardware, located next door, also remained closed, victim of extensive smoke damage.
