It’s fall, and that can only mean one thing for the District — it’s time for street festivals.

Adams Morgan Day took place last Saturday, kicking off what’s a busy month for various neighborhoods around town. This Saturday is the H Street Festival, celebrating what’s become one of the city’s most popular new destinations. On September 24, the second annual 17th Street Festival will take place, as will the Barracks Row Fall Festival. A day later, the 40th anniversary of Fiesta D.C. will kick off in Mt. Pleasant.

On October 1, the City Paper’s Crafty Bastards arts festival will once again take over the Marie Reed Community Center in Adams Morgan, and this year it will be joined by the D.C. State Fair, which was postponed due to Hurricane Irene. Even NoMa is getting in on the action with ZestFest, which will start on September 20 and run through the end of the month.

We’d be grievously remiss to not mention the Maryland Renaissance Festival, while we’re at it. If you think you’re too mature for oversized turkey legs and jousting, you’re really not. Check out these pictures to see what you might miss.
