Last week we reported that the Washington Area Bicyclists Association was pushing for a new law that would allow cyclists that are harassed, intimidated or assaults by drivers to more easily take them to court.

Today WAMU reports that Councilmember Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6) will introduce the legislation on Tuesday, following Los Angeles’ lead, which passed a similar law in July. Wells has at least one other supporter — Councilmember Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) tweeted this morning that he was in favor of the measure.
