A KGB tag.The MPD’s war on graffiti continues — over the weekend, the Fourth District and Fifth District Vice Office of the Metropolitan Police Department announced that it, in association with personnel from a U.S. Marshalls Task Force, had arrested five suspects, at least four of which are allegedly members of the Krazy Graf Brothers, or KGB, graffiti crew. Each were charged with Felony Destruction of Property, and police believe the individuals “to be responsible for thousands of dollars worth of damage.”
Police Commander Andrew Solberg told the Washington Post that those arrested are thought to be “responsible for such tags as Che, Aera KAE, Huf, Gator and G8R,” many of which are ubiquitous around the District:
Solberg said police believe the KGB Crew to be responsible for tags on warehouses, shops and businesses, as well as railroad tunnels, schools and houses of worship throughout his district and elsewhere. […] In addition to this month’s arrests, Solberg said, three search warrants were served in connection with the “tagging” investigation. He said the warrants led to the discovery of a gun, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police also found, according to Solberg, “dozens of cans of aerosol spray paint.”
In July, police arrested Asad ULTRA Walker, who they allege is “a leader and founding member of the KGB graffiti crew that dates back to at least the early 90s.”
