Just in case you’re a newcomer to this whole “professional football” phenomenon, the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys don’t like each other very much.

The two teams play each other this evening. The winner of tonight’s contest will be able to claim Monday Night Football bragging rights — the teams have met 14 times in the league’s marquee showcase game, the last time in 2005. Each team has won seven times, each winning the same number of contests on the other’s home field.

But while others are happy to spill thousands of words analyzing and previewing the game, it’s our opinion that this is one of the few match-ups in professional sports which really doesn’t need anything more than a brief history lesson appetizer.
