This weekend is your last chance to pull up a well-worn barstool at a Capitol Hill institution: the Hawk ‘n’ Dove will close on Sunday.

In August, longtime owner Stuart Long lost his lease on the property. New owner Xavier Cervera — who owns Molly Malone’s, the Chesapeake Room, and several other bars around town — will overhaul the bar’s interior and switch formats from the comfortable dinge that’s associated with Long’s pub. Cervera will take over the space in mid-October, render it “unrecognizable,” and then reopen it a few months later.

An auction of the bar’s decor will take place next week — but it’s not too late for you to take one last turn reenacting that West Wing scene that was filmed at the bar back in the early 2000s, and leave a hefty tip for the bar’s friendly sudslingers.
