As anyone who reads this blog regularly knew, this morning’s Metro commute was going to be a tough one for a lot of people. Being the curious bloggers we are, we were actually looking forward to seeing how people were responding out there during this morning’s rush.

Of course, some were angry, others more concisely than many. (There was also at least one instance of CAPS LOCK RAGE.) There were riders upset that WMATA was burdening them moreso on the holiday they already couldn’t enjoy, that the agency’s decied not to run normal rush hour service today, and of course the regular issues with the system’s seemingly stagnating service.

Our favorite? One rider who said that WMATA “is about as useful as the pope’s balls.” Ouch.

But to our surprise, a sizable group of people actually seemed to enjoy their morning commutes today. “I don’t have karate chop the normal crazies who work during the week that are rude,” wrote one rider; said another, “I woke up an hour early because #wmata told me it would take 40 mins to get to work. Now I’m an hour early to work. Keep up the good work!” People who drive to a Metro station also appeared to enjoy the reduced ridership, and this might be the first time I’ve ever seen anything good said about the WMATA Trip Planner on Twitter, well, ever.

So, how did you fare this morning on the rails? Let us know in the comments.
