Photo by @mjb.WMATA announced this morning that there will be no Red Line service between the Fort Totten and New York Avenue stations this weekend due to weekly track maintenance.
Red Line riders in that area will have to board the dreaded shuttle bus between 10 p.m. on Friday and closing on Sunday, as WMATA installs new track, ties and insulators between the stations. (While they’re working, WMATA will also lend some space to the District Department of Transportation so that they can work on a bridge near the New York Avenue station.) The Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland stations will be closed for the duration of the weekend; the Red Line will operate in two segments, between Shady Grove and New York Avenue and Glenmont and Fort Totten.
In addition this weekend, trains will share one track along the Blue Line between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road, and along the Green Line between Fort Totten and Prince George’s Plaza. Four of the system’s lines will also experience single-tracking for brief periods during the day this week. More details on this week’s work can be found at Metro’s website.
