The iconic U Street joint will be serving up 175 chili dogs and 25 bowls of veggie chili tonight to demonstrators at Freedom Plaza.

“We need to do our part too,” read a tweet from the eatery, who’ll serve up the goods around 7 p.m. in the square, after a general assembly. (Make your own jokes about how the influx of Ben’s will affect sanitation at the tent city.)

Of course, the last time Ben’s dished up some of its chili downtown, a man ended up eating more than two gallons of it. For the sake of the occupiers in the Plaza, we’re glad that a repeat performance is not in the works.
