A new campaign for statehood devised by Councilmember Michael A. Brown (I-At Large) was officially presented today, and you might soon see it rolling right by you.

Part of the plan involves ads on Metrobuses, including the one that was unveiled today in front of the Wilson Building. There are five different slogans that will appear on roughly 25 buses throughout the city. (This certainly isn’t the first time that ads related to the D.C. voting rights and statehood movement have appeared on Metro buses.) The campaign, which we first reported on two weeks ago, seeks to more aggressively market the concept of statehood to tourists in the District and legislators throughout the country. Some 1,000 pro-statehood calendars will be mailed to governors and legislators, while 100,000 brochures touting the goal will be distributed locally and nationally.

The campaign also includes a new website, StatehoodDC.com.
