Good morning, Washington. Wilson Ramos, a 24-year-old catcher who is one of the Washington Nationals’ more promising young players, was kidnapped at gunpoint by four men in his native Venezuela last night. Ramos had returned to Venezuela to participate in a winter league, as many Latin American players do. It’s unclear what’s going to happen next — Ramos’ family has not yet been in contact with his abductors; a winter league official quoted by the Post said of the situation, “It’s bad. It’s real bad.”

Hail Mary: Alan Suderman ponders the question of the week: “Who needs a bigger win: Mayor Vince Gray or the Washington Redskins?” (Wow, that’s…a tough one.) Suderman dives into Gray’s attempts to bring the Redskins’ training facilities back into the District, and concludes that Gray — for any number of reasons, from public opposition to financial constraints — would have better luck suiting up at left guard on Sunday than he will at actually bringing the team back into the city while he’s still mayor.

Hey, Look How Awesome We Are!: The Washington Post’s thirst to prove the city’s hipness cannot be quenched! Today, Style writer Philip Kennicott writes about how cool all the people down at Occupy DC are, noting that the demonstrators “have done what so many planners, designers and architects strive for but fail to achieve: They have “activated” the urban core.” (Wait, I feel like we may have read this same argument before.)

Show Them The Money: If the District really wants to attract more film producers to the city, they’ll need to splash the cash — at least that’s what producers told members of a D.C. Council committee during a hearing yesterday. The Examiner reports that, in short, producers think the District’s film incentive fund (which currently holds around $16,000) simply pales in comparison to its neighbors in Maryland (whose incentive fund currently boasts around $7.5 million) and Virginia (which has around $2 million to spend on such projects). Our solution? A new tax on puffy directing pants. Or a tax not wearing them, whichever is applicable.

Briefly Noted: What does the Republican groundswell in Virginia protend for the 2012 elections?…Police hold talks with Occupy protesters…Whatever happened to the old Washington Star building?…A day in the life of a locked-out NBA player…Former CFO of National City Christian Church sentenced to eight years for embezzling $850,000…Virginia wants Maryland’s jobs…D.C. man shot and killed on 4500 block of Quarles Street NE this morning…G.W. students taught by lazy prof get credit and refundsUgh.

This Day in DCist: Last year, clowns invaded the D.C. Council, people Falls Church cheered the burning of their neighbor’s home, Vince Vaughn kissed Arch Campbell, and Ted Leonsis did the Dougie. Yeah, it was a weird day.
