COMEDY: Comedian Michael Ian Black brings his “Black is White” tour to the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue (600 I Street NW) tonight. Doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m. Tickets $27.50.

ART PARTY: Mix art and partying at one of two events tonight: the Phillips After Five: Sugar Plum Party at the Phillips Collection (5-8:30 p.m., $12) or Mingle at the Museum: The Bright Beneath at the National Museum of Natural History (7:30-10 p.m., $35).

THEATER: City Artistic Partnerships presents The Santaland Diaries, performed by Joe Brack. This one-man show was originially written and performed by David Sedaris, offering his account of being an elf at Macy’s Santaland. Performances begin tonight and continue through December 24 at The Shop at Fort Fringe (607 New York Avenue NW). 8 p.m. Tickets: $20.

BALLET: George Washington plays the role of the Nutcracker and King George III stands in as the Rat King in the Washington Ballet’s Revolutionary War-themed version of The Nutcracker, which opens tonight at the Warner Theatre (513 13th Street NW). 7 p.m. Tickets: $43-$107.

MOVIE: The Capital Irish Film Festival, presented by Solas Nua, kicks off today with The Lotus Eaters at E Street Cinema (555 11th Street NW). See the full festival lineup here. 8 p.m. $10.

MUSIC: D.C.’s Jukebox the Ghost plays the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW) with D.C./Brooklyn’s Deleted Scenes tonight. Delaware’s The Spinto Band also takes the stage. 7 p.m. $15.

ART MARKETS: The Torpedo Factory Art Center (105 N. Union Street Alexandria, VA ) is throwing a Hawaiian-themed Holiday Open House this evening. Shop the artists’ studios, enjoy refreshments, listen to live music from the Aloha Boys, watch a dance performance from the Karen Reedy Dance company, and contribute to a holiday toy and food drive. 6-9 p.m. Free.
