If you haven’t yet watched The Artist, maybe you should — the region’s local film critics chose it as their 2011 pick of the year.

Yesterday the Washington, D.C. Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) announced its annual picks, calling upon its 43 members to choose everything from Best Director (Martin Scorsese for Hugo) to Best Animated Feature (Rango). George Clooney and Michelle Williams took best actor and actress honors, respectively, while Albert Brooks and Octavia Spencer claimed supporting actor and actress nods.
