This came in late last night (about 11 p.m., to be precise), but Lenorable’s Christmas song is worth a listen for anyone still looking for holiday songs to add to their catalogue in years to come.
The goth pop, shoegazing, synth-y duo comprised of Ian Graham and Lisa Reed spent the weekend covering “Last Christmas” by Wham! It’s a more creepy take on the George Michael-sung contemporary Yuletide standby, and maybe more dreamy, too. Anyone familiar with Lenorable—they received the Three Stars treatment on Oct. 28—will recognize Reed’s roller coaster vocals delivering the song’s saddening tale of a holiday romance gone awry.
Of course, Lenorable has written songs inspired by the works of Franz Kafka and Edgar Allen Poe, so what better Christmas tale for them to cover than Wham!’s bittersweet song?
