Just like last weekend, Metro, MARC and VRE are running on a holiday schedule for New Year’s, and once again, if you’re Virginia-bound, you might want to get going early. Metrorail and MARC are working extra tomorrow, but VRE is on its “S” schedule, meaning fewer trains for tonight’s commuters. A brief rundown of the transit systems’ New Year’s schedules:

Metro:

  • Friday, Dec. 30: Normal service with extra afternoon trains for early getaway
  • Saturday, Dec. 31: Normal service, Metrorail operating 7 a.m. to 3 a.m.
  • Sunday, Jan. 1: Normal Sunday service, Metrorail operating 7 a.m. to midnight
  • Monday, Jan. 2: Holiday service, Metrorail operating 7 a.m. to midnight and buses on Sunday schedule.

MARC:

  • Friday: There will be additional trains at 2:40 p.m. on the Brunswick Line, 2 p.m. on the Camden Line and at 2:50 p.m. on the Penn Line. Some trains are not running, and certain trains departing Union Station at rush hour will delay their departure for holiday travelers.
  • Monday: No service.

VRE:

  • Friday: All lines operating on the “S” schedule. Outbound trains on the Fredericksburg line at 3:55, 4:10, 5:15, 6:40 and 7 p.m.; and outbound trains on the Manassas line at 4:25, 5:30 and 6:50 p.m. are not running.
  • Monday: No service.
