Plenty of people have opinions on proposed rate increases for D.C. taxicabs that would see per-mile charge rise from $1.50 to $2.16 while many surcharges are scrapped. You can express yours tomorrow.
The rate changes were formally published in the D.C. Register on December 23 for a 30-day comment period, and tomorrow the D.C. Taxicab Commission will be holding its monthly meeting where residents and drivers will be able to offer testimony on the rate hikes.
If you want to participate in tomorrow’s hearing, which takes place 10 a.m. in the Old Council Chambers at 441 Fourth Street NW, call 202-645-6018 before 4:30 p.m. today. If you can’t make it tomorrow, you can email any comments directly to the commission at dctc (at) dc (dot) gov.
Alternatively, you can sign up to testify at a hearing being held by Councilmember Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) on January 30 to discuss legislation that would thoroughly modernize the city’s 8,500 cabs.
