WUSA9 is reporting that three people were shot near Ballou High School in the Congress Heights section of Southeast D.C. this morning.

All were shot around 9:30 a.m., and two have been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. All appear to be juveniles.

According to Fox 5’s Matt Ackland, both D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier and Mayor Vince Gray have appeared at the scene of the shootings. The Examiner’s Emily Babay tweets that a suspect is in custody.

UPDATE, 10:45 a.m.: More from Ackland: “Lanier says multiple shots were fired. Police chased down two groups. 3 had been shot, two others taken into custody.”
