Fuel Pizza, a chain based in North Carolina, will open its first D.C. restaurant at 16th and K streets NW Wednesday at noon. The first 50 customers get free food for a year, late-comers can try free menu items throughout the day. There will be a soft opening for limited hours on Monday and Tuesday with a 15 percent discount on the entire menu.
Fuel is known for its New York-style pizza sold by the pie and slice as well as an exhaustive menu including salads, hot subs and wings.
In 2010 they created their “Farm to Fuel” program aimed at cultivating a lifelong love of veggies in North Carolina children using Pizza as a vehicle. Specialty pies such as the “Pyramid Pie” featuring all five food groups on a slice, point toward the program.
The restaurant’s hours will be 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays-Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursdays-Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays. The two-level space will feature counter service on the first level and table service on the second level after 5 p.m.
