One of D.C.’s favorite beer brands will soon be available to our neighbors south of the Potomac. Ohio’s Great Lakes Brewing Company will soon be entering Northern Virginia as Cleveland’s craft darling expands distribution into its 13th state on February 27.

GLBC is a welcome addition to novices and aficionados alike. Their line-up has numerous offerings like the Dortmunder Gold and Eliot Ness Amber that are accessible to all types of beer drinkers while still having the burly Blackout Stout and monstrously-hopped Lake Erie Monster to delightfully ravage the palates of any drinker who is a glutton for big-beer punishment.

The great Lakes rollout will include both draft and bottles—including a 12-pack “sampler”—and will coincide with numerous tastings, giveaways, and events throughtout the NoVa area.

The last year has seen the metro D.C. area become one of the hottest areas for breweries, such as New Belgium, Uinta, Pretty Things, and Firestone Walker, to expand into and 2012 shows no signs of slowing this welcomed migration.
