One of these guys is coming to the Fillmore in Silver Spring.
Sure, we could have said that Guns N’ Roses was set to play a show at the Fillmore in Silver Spring on February 23, but that would be doing the memory of an otherwise great band a disservice.
Instead, we’re going to settle for saying that Axl Rose and seven other guys (including a guy called Bumblefoot and another called DJ Ashba, who obviously plays guitar) are going to be playing an intimate show at the Fillmore on February 23. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m., and for $85 you might get a chance to hear a few Guns N’ Roses covers, a whole lot of material from Chinese Democracy and maybe some tunes from a new album we could expect at some point in 2027.
And no, that Axl is coming to town will simply never substitute for the one missed opportunity I had to see the band in its post-Use Your Illusion heyday. Mom, I still don’t forgive you for telling me that the show would be too dangerous, even if it was taking place in a foreign country and I was only 13. (The same goes for Metallica. They were awesome then and I couldn’t go to the show. They’re still around, but c’mon, after Load I just can’t pretend anymore.)
In related news, I will be listening to “November Rain” on repeat on Friday and mourning the loss of a great band, no matter if they are being inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.
