So you’re not one of the 111 million people planning to watch large men tackle each other, Madonna and commercials tomorrow evening? We know the Super Bowl isn’t for everyone so we’ve compiled some other activities for those who don’t want to miss out on the Sunday fun.
Do a little competitive shopping:
A rush of online shoppers clamoring to get their hands on a piece of Italian designer, Missoni’s collection for Target crashed the retailer’s website last year. Tomorrow, Jason Wu, who created the inaugural ball gown for first lady Michelle Obama, will start selling a limited edition collection at the hip big box store.
Add to the inherent craziness of the Columbia Heights Target and throw some elbows to get your hands on the undeniably adorable dresses and purses designed by Wu.
Get your 90s on:
Prepare for the Bone Thugs-n-Harmony concert at 9:30 Club . Put on albums like “Creepin on ah Come Up,” sing “Tha Crossroads” and dream of the early days of Clinton’s presidency while wearing overalls and a mid-drift shirt or a flannel shirt and ripped up jeans.
Watch the Puppy Bowl:
Trade yelling at the TV for coo-ing over the cuteness of the puppies in Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl VIII. They even have a guide for throwing a “Tail-gate” party.
If you want to get your fill of baby animals at a bar, word on the street is that Solly’s U Tavern plays the Puppy Bowl after the Super Bowl- the caveat is that they turn the sound off and play The Carpenter’s discography.
Eat a vegan meal:
While tomorrow’s food traditions typically revolve around greasy, meaty finger foods, buck the norm and go for a tasty animal product free feast at Sticky Fingers Bakery in Columbia Heights. Finish off your healthy afternoon practicing Vinyasa Flow at Buddha B Yoga Center at U and 11th streets. They have classes at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
