Photo by Ray from LAA K Street restaurant that was named after a controversial Peruvian president has somewhat reversed course.
The Huffington Post reported this morning that Lima restaurant chose not to take on the name Fujimori as part of a re-branding as had been reported last year, opting instead for Fujimar.
As we wrote at the time of the announcement, the idea of naming the Latin-Asian fusion restaurant after the former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori was an odd one — Fujimori is a divisive figure who is currently serving a prison sentence for human rights violations, after all.
The owners of the restaurant haven’t said whether politics motivated their decision to rename the restaurant, though we’d guess that simple public relations in a town as international as D.C. would be enough to help.
