Prince George’s County police this afternoon released the identities the victims of two nearby homicides Monday night.
The first victim, Christopher Donald Smith, was found fatally shot about 10:45 p.m. in the 5300 block of 85th Avenue, not far from the the New Carrollton stop on Metrorail’s Orange Line. Smith, 16, lived in Landover, police told DCist.
The body of the second victim, Alfonso Edward Thompson Jr, was found about 45 minutes later on 78th Avenue in West Lanham Hills. Thompson was 23 and lived in Greenbelt. The Post reports police said that Thompson appeared to be riding a bicycle when he was shot.
A spokeswoman for the Prince George’s Police Department also told the Post that while the shootings are still being treated as separate incidents, investigators are determining if there are any connections, given the closeness in time and distance between the shootings.
No suspects or or motive have yet been identified, police said.
