>> Angela Bofill’s voice may have been weakened by a series of health setbacks but that doesn’t mean her music can’t be celebrated. Melba Moore will take over the lead vocals in the “Angela Bofill Experience” as Ms. Bofill narrates at the Birchmere. $35. 7 p.m.

Friday:
>> A host of artists will be at Liv as a part of “Sham.” Nate Greyski, Amanda Badze and W. Ellington Felton will be performing live, as well as DJs Spicoli, Mane Squeeze, Mista Selectah, Thomas Blondet, Cam Jus and Underdog. $10 in advance. 9 p.m.

>> “The Audacity of Dope” promises to bring some “presidential” hip-hop, R&B, etc. to Queen Makeda (1917 9th Street NW) for the start of the holiday weekend. Grap Luva will be hosting this evening. Free. 10 p.m.

>> DJ Spinna (pictured) was actually in town last week for a set but if you didn’t have a chance to catch him then, here’s another opportunity. The Brooklyn native is the “Red Fridays” headliner at U Street Music Hall. Joining him will be Chris Burns and Cortega. Free before 11 p.m. / $5 after 11 p.m. 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> New York-based DJ Center put out a well-received album two years ago that he remixed last year, Everything In Time. He’ll be spinning at Eighteenth Street Lounge . $TBA. 9:30 p.m.

>> The Sol Power All-Stars take their African Diaspora sounds to Jimmy Valentine’s. They’ll be joined by DJ Cortega and Joe L. Free. 10 p.m.

Sunday:
>> For the seventh time, D.C. celebrates the life of late hip-hop producer James “J Dilla” Yancey with “D.C. Loves Dilla.” This year’s festivities take place at U Street Music Hall. Hosting duties will belong to Grap Luva and DJs Book, Roddy Rod, RBI, Pudge, Quartermaine, Stylus, Mimms, Harvey Dent, Cuzzin B and 2-Tone Jones will provide the sounds. Also, Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey is slated to make an appearance. $10. 9 p.m.

Monday:
>> Oh, you didn’t buy tickets to the Yasiin Bey show at the 9:30 Club because you forgot Yasiin Bey is Mos Def‘s new stage name? Well, so did we and now the show is sold out. The secondary market isn’t looking promising, either. 7 p.m.
