The saga of Shaw’s Tavern continues, but it might be moving towards a happy ending.

Today the new owners of the troubled Florida Avenue restaurant announced on their Facebook page that while they waited for a hearing on their liquor license, they would re-open the restaurant for limited breakfast, lunch and brunch service:

As we are patiently waiting for our liquor license to be issued we have decided to open our doors for business. Shaw’s Tavern will serve a light breakfast and lunch menu for weekdays from 7am to 6pm and a brunch menu on weekends from 9am to 4pm. Please stop by as we would love the opportunity to meet our neighbors.

The Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration has set a March 12 hearing to consider the restaurant’s application for a liquor license, the very thing that has been the source of plenty of stress since the restaurant first announced it was opening last year. Under the original owners, the restaurant was busted for serving liquor during a soft opening without yet having a license; it closed its doors a few weeks later after barely having served food to any of its customers. In January, two new owners took over the restaurant with hopes that they could start afresh and revive the restaurant.
