While ex-IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn may have been somewhat vindicated when the charges against him for sexually assaulting a hotel maid in New York were dropped, he’s again in hot water in France for allegedly participating in sex parties — some of which took place in the District.
Via the New York Post, AFP is reporting this morning that Strauss-Kahn was taken into custody by French police today over allegations that he partook in parties in Paris and Washington featuring prostitutes paid for by a pair of French businessmen. The issue police are interested in isn’t so much the sex that may have taken place, but rather whether Strauss-Kahn was aware that who was paying the prostitutes. The last of the parties before Strauss-Kahn’s arrest in New York was said to have taken place in the District last May.
Though Strauss-Kahn left D.C. after having resigned his position at the IMF, his Georgetown home remains on the market. At $4.7 million, it’s a steal from the $5.2 million that was originally sought. For all the illicit sex that may have taken place within, potential buyers could knock it down even further.
UPDATE, 1:30 p.m.: According to the BBC, Strauss-Kahn’s legal defense team is pushing back on the contention that he knew the women were prostitutes. “I challenge you to distinguish a naked prostitute from any other naked woman,” said lawyer Henri Leclerc.
