To celebrate, join the National Museum of Women in the Arts for the dedication of Chakaia Booker’s New York Avenue Sculpture Project. This is the second installation of the only public art space solely dedicated to women artists. >> On Friday, D.C. artist Helen Zughaib presents new work in new media in her first solo exhibition at The Jerusalem Fund Gallery. Zughaib’s new work has expanded to include collage and mixed media to express her feelings on the Arab Spring. Thoughts on the Spring opening reception at 6 p.m.
>> It’s Second Thursday Art Night, at the Torpedo Factory. Minds Wide Open: Virginia Celebrates Children and the Arts with an evening of gallery receptions, fun activities, live music by local teen Keira Moran, and much more. From 7 to 9 p.m.
>> The National Gallery of Art continues its film series of all existing works by famed French director Robert Bresson. Saturday at 4:30 p.m., the NGA presents Les Dames du Bois de Boulogne. The collection continues Sunday at 4:30 p.m. with Diary of a Country Priest, an adaptation of religious fiction writer Georges Bernanos’s 1936 Le Journal d’un Curé de Campagne.
