If you’ve found it hard to concentrate on work every time you glance outside today, this is probably why:
At 4 pm DC has hit 80 for 1st time in 2012.80 is DC’s average hi on June 2!

Eighty degrees at 4 p.m. That’s not the record for March 13, but it’s awfully close. The all-time high recorded for this date in D.C. is 87 degrees, measured on an unseasonably sweltering day in 1990. The record low was 14 degrees set in 1896. The average temperature for March 13 is 55 degrees. The high was 49 degrees a year ago and 52 on March 13, 2010.
But today is just the second day in what appears to be a week of abnormal warmth. Daily high are expected to stay in the high 70s throughout the week before finally dipping to 69 on Sunday. No wonder those Capital Weather gangsters moved up the cherry blossom bloom.
